Serge L. (Larry) MillerLarry was born in Paris in 1933, and spent much of his childhood in New York City. He spent his high school years as a boarding student at The Gunnery in Washington, CT., and came to love the town and the school. After graduating from Yale University, and spending two years in the Army during the Korean War, he returned to Washington and taught French at the Gunnery for twelve years. The classic Renaissance man, Miller cooked, baked, farmed his land, did construction, became active in politics, and explored his artistic interests during his time off. He got his MA in French from Trinity College in 1973, but something was missing. In the end, teaching did not allow enough time for his creative pursuits, and Miller tried various career alternatives, from designing and building houses, to doing calligraphy. Serge finally found his creative calling after learning how to make copper lighting fixtures from a master coppersmith. Combining utility and beauty, his business has thrived in Washington for more than 25 years. He has lighting fixtures in every state, and in many other countries. Return to TOP |
